Frequently Asked Questions

Question?

What’s the difference between A Top Party shelters than those bought at Argos, B&Q, Amazon etc?

Answer

All our shelters are top of the range in this field of marquee and gazebos hire and shouldn’t be mistaken for cheaper models on the market. Our newly designed & built in Germany marquees are a favourite among commercial hirers and has been specifically designed to meet the requirements of the professional market by utilising the highest quality materials available to date. Featuring an up fast build mechanism, the structure is quickly erected in just a few minutes. The aluminium frame is the strongest material available and is capable of handling wind speeds of up to 50 mph, or greater, depending on how many are linked together. Giving an unbeatable performance when it comes to heavy-duty use. Our marquees and gazebos are never beaten on quality and value for money.

Question?

What benefits do I get when using your services?

Answer

We professionally install and dismantle every size gazebos or marquee, so you don’t need to lift a finger. Furthermore, we add a lot of free items such as leg curtains, Moroccan valances, sidewalls, rear windows, door entrances, half panels and extension cables to name but a few! Additionally, we work very hard to maintain all our marquees through the week to deliver the cleanest possible marquee to every client, be that new or old. As we dismantle each marquee, we meticulously clean them with our cleaning agents. After each use of the flooring, it is then cleaned with a pressure washer at our base, dried and packed away for our next client.

Question?

What flooring do I need?

Answer

Our breathable carpet suits grass/soil areas, as we recommend pegging each corner for stability. If your grass area is wet and muddy we would recommend hiring our tarpaulin sheets underneath the carpet. For health and safety, our tarpaulin sheets are best utilised on grass or soil areas only! Our premium range artificial turf is suitable for all types of ground, whether that be, hard ground, muddy grass, decking, etc.

Question?

Do I need a generator?

Answer

In some cases, you may need a generator, depending on your electrical supply. We can put you in touch with some companies that will supply a generator.

Question?

Can I hire a marquee in the winter time?

Answer

Yes, we do hire marquees and gazebos over the winter period. The marquees and gazebos are popular during the winter, especially when coupled with a few gas heaters – which we can offer you. How many heaters you will need will vary on how cold it becomes and how large the marquee/gazebos is. Albeit, please note, consideration will be needed in sub-zero conditions as to whether a marquee can be erected and/or dismantled.

Question?

Can the marquee be erected on hard ground?

Answer

Yes, we have a weighting system which will hold down a marquee without the need for ground pegs.

Question?

Can the marquee be erected close to the house?

Answer

Yes, the marquee could be erected close to the front or the back of the house, but only if the doors of your premises open inwards and not out. For instance, there mustn’t be objects protruding out of the wall (flower baskets) (sharp objects) (low gutters), etc.

Question?

I want the marquee erected at the back of my house, but my patio doors open outwards, can I still have the marquee erected close to the house?

Answer

If the doors to your premises open outwards, then there will be a possibility that the doors will hit the center cross structure of the marquee and cause damage. If you have objects protruding out of the wall (flower baskets) (sharp objects) (low gutters) this can also avert us from establishing the marquee close to the house/premises as it will additionally cause damage to the marquee material.

Question?

When will you erect and dismantle the marquee?

Answer

We tend to install the structures on Friday or Thursdays and dismantle on Sunday and Mondays, however, if you prefer specific days, we will always try to accommodate your needs.

Question?

Can I hire furniture alone?

Answer

Yes, furniture could be delivered to your address and there is a delivery charge regardless of how many items you hire.

Question?

Do you have public liability insurance?

Answer

We do have public liability insurance. Public Liability Limit of indemnity occurrence of up to £5,000,000. (SHARCOMM 146)

Question?

Do you carry out any risk assessments?

Answer

Yes, we do risk assessments and they can take 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the size of shelter you would need. We offer a chargeable service where a professional from our team will undertake a risk assessment of the area. However, if the area is unsafe to install any temporary structure, then we would suggest a new site for the event you are holding. In some cases, we have undertaken a risk assessment and deemed the area unfit for purpose. Ourselves and our client have then chosen a safer and more suitable area to install the marquees, but this isn’t always the case as every site is different.

Question?

Are the electrical items P.A.T tested (Portable Appliance Tested)?

Answer

Our electrical items are new, so to have a specialist access and inspect our electronics is not necessary. When our electronics “such as heaters” have had a high volume of usage over time, we change the entire unit and not just the bulbs, etc. This gives the customer that extra level of safety and reliability of their time using the electronics. All the high-quality equipment we hire gets tested before they are delivered to the next client.

Question?

Is there any additional information I need to know when hiring a marquee, furniture or electrical items?

Conclusion

Our team after completion will brief you with safety instructions on how to use the marquee and electrical equipment, etc. A Top Party specialises in installing the electrical items in the safest possible place of the marquee to keep the user of the equipment safe at all times. For example, extension cables will go neatly underneath the marquee lining to prevent any trip hazards; lighting or heaters placed in the highest possible place in the marquee to prevent children from getting burnt or adults banging their heads on any electronics, etc. Securing our equipment properly is equally important, as it keeps the equipment locked into place through unexpected high winds.
